The Texas
Open was held on the 5th and 6th of August at
Richardson, Dallas under the auspices of India
association of North Texas (IANT). In the
singles event, there were 18 entries and doubles
had 10 entries. There were a good number of
talented players from both Dallas and Houston.
Prakash Kagal
clean swept by winning both the singles and
doubles titles by staying unbeatable throughout
the round robin and knockout stages. He beat
Jayadeva Suryadevara in the finals in an
exciting 3 game match. He further went on to
beat Jayadeva Suryadevara and Rakesh in straight
games partnering with Sohail Ahmed in the open
doubles. Third and the fourth place in
open singles were taken by Meher Janyavula and
Amit Mohe.
In B
group singles, 1st and 2nd place were taken by
Ravi Wagle and Rajesh Desai from Houston. The
prize distribution will be held at Anand Bazar on
the 19th August 2006.
